At the Federation of Riders Infant and Junior Schools we believe that regular attendance is essential if pupils are to benefit from their time at school. Valuable learning time is lost when pupils are absent or late.
Pupils should be at school on time, every day that school is open, unless the reason for absence is unavoidable. Permitting absence from school without good reason is an offence by the parent.
Please note that a fixed penalty notice can be issued when there has been 10 sessions (5 school days) of unauthorised absence in a 100 day period (10 weeks). In addition, attending school on time is equally important as regular attendance, so if your child is continually late, again consideration will be given to issuing parents with a fixed penalty notice.
Holidays in term time are NOT authorised unless there are exceptional circumstances. The decision to authorise absence is at the Headteacher’s discretion, based on their assessment of the situation. If a holiday is taken in term time without permission and your child has low attendance, consideration will be given to issuing parents with a fixed penalty notice.
More information can be found in the school’s attendance policy. This is located on the school website but if you would like a paper copy, please speak to a member of staff in the school office.
